stupid thing that must be said now since i didn't have the time or forgot to post it earlier...

WHFS IS FUCKING GONE!

bastards from hell. my favorite radio station from when i was in high school in woodbridge, VA, creators of the famed HFS-tival and HFS-ticle shows, apparently has gone off the air. damn near broke my heart when i tried to tune in on my crazy drive home the other week and it was a spanish-speaking station. and dc-101 isn't classic rock and cool anymore, they were interviewing fucking O.A.R. when i tried them. i mean, sure, HFS had become redhotchilipepper and incubus 24/7 lately and went WAY downhill after, say, 1995... but... one time they played "feed the tree" by belly and i loved them. :( it was sad. it was also raining like crazy when i found this out and it took me probably 3 hours to get through friggin' DC, which somehow makes this more dramatic. ;)

i also couldn't find my new house again when i drove back home this time... i say "again" because that happened last time my family moved while i was at umass. last time was somewhat more embarrassing because i had chris with me, and we had to stop at a gas station and look at a map to find the house because it was 2 in the morning and i didn't want to call my parents for more directions. this time it was more that i went VERY VERY slowly down the right way home and turned around fifteen hundred times because it is so dark here that i couldn't read the signs and had to pull up to each one to figure out if it was my turn. that, and i almost drove (well, i was moving very, very slowly... it's just that it stood in the road while i waited for it to move over. heh) into a deer, which ran into the woods and stared at me in that way that animals with eyes at the sides of their head often do. it's funny, but slightly creepy, to have a deer stare at you with one eye from the edge of the woods.

random fact: i've been in this house less time than i was in that vacation house the family rented in maryland last week. i still don't know what's in all the drawers and cabinets in the kitchen and it takes me too long to put dishes back.

second random fact:tonight i saw three different deer while driving with my sister to wal-mart. two adults and one CUUUUUUTE little BEEBEE DEER!!!! add in tree frogs, the hummingbirds, and the alligator that my family saw at the same place where i almost slowly bumped into that first deer, and i feel like i live on a wildlife preserve. not just on the roads between my house and the town, either. my mom saw a deer standing right next to our cars this morning when she got up, she told me.

but this doesn't change the fact that someone in the radio world stole my childhood dreams. i don't even have a friggin' HFS shirt. the injustice.
